New Music - 2025
Dear all - A quick note to announce I am back making music. Last year was incredibly hard for our family. Thank you to all who have expressed love and support. It means a lot.
The power of music is that it can heal, or at least be part of the healing process. And so I am back writing and recording. There will be a progressive album next year. It is gradually forming and I'm pretty excited by the energy of it. First off though I am pleased to say I am nearing the end of my second Tudor project - a musical narrative on the life of Anne Boleyn. Having said I wouldn't do anything more after 'K of A' it soon became clear there was a different story to tell and the music naturally fell into place over the last two years. And so there is an album. We have a running order, provisional artwork (will share soon) and just finalising the title and the release format. I am exploring some interesting alternative formats for this one. More to follow.

Manir Khalil Donaghue

It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of Coltsfoot founder member and original guitarist Manir Khalil Donaghue. Geoff, Stuart and Manir (right to left in the photo below) formed the band at the University of Hull in the mid-eighties. Manir was a big character with an encyclopedic knowledge of progressive music. In the days when studio time was expensive but there was no other way to capture our first compositions, together we learned the art and science of recording, how to (and often how not to) record! 'Everybody makes mistakes' was his classic line, often uttered by all of us as the clock ticked down and the bill crept up! It was a fun time. Our first efforts were by no means perfect but it was an enlightening journey. One we shared together. Thanks Manir for the fun memories. RIP friend. We will never forget you.

Work has started on compiling and editing some of the piano ballads written over many years. With new vocals supplied by a number of session singers, this is something Geoff has been itching to do for a long, long time. Primarily with a publishing focus, this may result in a stand alone album. Watch this space....

Material is being assembled for a new side project entitled Deadly Charm. This crossover project will be an outlet for some of Geoff's more electronic compositions. Further updates when it nears completion.
